Arsenal Women Football Club is one of the most successful female football clubs in the history of the women's game. It prides itself on maintaining high standards and delivering excellence.The Strength and Conditioning programme is fundamental in maximising the fitness, preparation and performance of the elite players within Arsenal Women FC.

Arsenal Women FC are looking for a top level professional Strength and Conditioner. The position holder will report into the First Team Manager. The person appointed in this role will lead the fitness and physical development of the players designated to the post holder by the First Team Manager.

The person will apply scientific principles and techniques with the aim of improving sporting performance, incorporating areas such as physiology, psychology, strength, speed, power, endurance, motor control and biomechanics and including nutrition and diet, sports technology, anthropometry, functional competence assessments and performance analysis where possible.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead on sport science duties.
  • To lead on the development of week and season plans.
  • To lead on the monitoring of player workload, wellness and readiness.
  • To lead on the collecting and inputting of information to the player profile.
  • To assist the Lead Physiotherapist with screening and testing of the players, where possible.
  • To explore opportunities of implementation of the GPS system.
  • To lead on the coaching of individualised strength & conditioning sessions.
  • To lead on the coaching of individualised functional corrective programmes.
  • To maintain Arsenal Football Club's Child Protection, Health, Safety and Equal Opportunity procedures as practice.
  • To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Arsenal Football Club, Arsenal Women Football Club and its operation.
  • To report to the First Team Manager on a daily basis to discuss / plan player and training schedules.
  • To be present at all training sessions and matches.
  • To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the First Team Manager, such as exploring opportunities to establish strength and conditioning programmes within the Women's Academy.
  • To ensure the fitness of the Women's First Team is at the best possible level in order to compete as a leading European team and to give attention to detail in all relevant areas.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education/Qualifications/Training:

  • BSc in Sports Science or a related field.
  • Must hold UK Strength and Conditioning accreditation (UKSCA).
  • The Football Association Intermediate First Aid for Sport (IFAS) qualification.
  • Must have sports emergency first-aid qualifications in accordance with their coaching qualifications.
  • Broad knowledge of subject area and contemporary issues.

Specific Experience:

  • Experience working with elite performers.
  • Experience of coordinating and delivering sport services.
  • It is preferred that the candidate has Football Coaching experience (ideally UEFA B License) and is able to lead on football themed pre-activation sessions for training and matches.

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

  • An ability to produce verbal and written reports.
  • A willingness to work flexibly.
  • A proactive approach within agreed boundaries.
  • A strong desire to work as part of a team and to put the team's needs ahead of your own.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety and its application to a sporting environment.
  • Energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to enthuse and inspire inexperienced and experienced players.
  • Evidence of sound administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a multi disciplinary team.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a self declaration and an enhanced CRB check.

In addition, the successful applicant will be required to attend The FA Safeguarding Children in Football Workshop and other appropriate CPD events.

The role requires the post holder to attend all Arsenal Women FC First Team Training Sessions per week and all Arsenal Women First Team matches.

Football Development Coach (Casual)

Arsenal Football Development's purpose is to service and attract club partners, help support and grow global communities and our fan bases whilst enhancing our fan experience and engagement. We deliver a range of events to varying levels of ability within our football development scope, providing opportunities to coach here in the UK and abroad. Our main focuses for the summer ahead will be delivering our English Language courses in the UK and our Football Development programmes internationally. These programmes can mix between participation focus and a player development focus providing a good development base for aspiring coaches

A large portion of our international work consists of coach education programmes that focus on spreading the Arsenal Philosophy to our club and football partners. We want to leave a legacy in the places we visit and feel our 'International Coach Development' programmes enable us to have sustainable impact on the coaching levels in the regions we visit. Most of these programmes are delivered in accordance with our lead partners such as Visit Rwanda and in association with national associations such as FERWAFA.

The role will be on a casual agreement providing both parties flexibility, and the agreement covers both coaching roles and coach education roles that fall within the Arsenal Football Development remit. To ensure we can deliver our programmes in the 'Arsenal Way' there will be a continuous professional development calendar that will outline the support we provide to our coaching pool; to primarily quality assure the standard we can deliver too and support our coaches on their own professional journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced planning of training session with clearly defined objectives, leading the coaching team in the delivery during the event
  • Brand immersion - read all briefs to ensure you have a basic understanding of the partners business and the reasons behind the partnership with Arsenal
  • Deliver all football related activities (coach education sessions/practical sessions) to a best in class standard
  • Allocate tasks and duties to assistant coaches and manage their performance during the event to meet standards expected
  • Ensure health and safety checks and a risk assessment are undertaken so that the venue meets minimum requirement levels. Ensuring the health and safety procedures are adhered to for the duration of the event.
  • Manage any incidents in accordance with guidelines provided in the Coaches' Guide and partner briefing and ensure the partner Child Safeguarding policies and procedures are upheld
  • Take responsibility for the equipment inventory, collection and returning to the designated locations
  • Be able to conduct any media related interviews, press conferences or filming requests pre-approved by the club.
  • Complete the de-briefing documentation to the Football Development team following the event, recording any incidents, lost property and any other information the team should be aware of
  • Conduct any activity within clubs discretion to help promote ongoing activity

Main Job Requirements and Person Specification

Education/Qualifications/Training:

  • A FA Level 2 coaching or national equivalent
  • FA Youth Modules
  • Valid FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • Valid FA Emergency Aid Certificate
  • Enhanced DBS Check

Specific Experience:

  • Experience of working with young players of all abilities
  • Be willing to learn about, represent and be passionate about the Arsenal history and youth development philosophy
  • Sound experience in management of relationships; understanding needs, cultural sensitivity and working with third parties
  • Possess the personality to create a quick rapport with young players of all abilities, ages and nationalities providing the best possible football experience
  • Demonstration of a great work ethic, ability to positively contribute to the team and an ability to deal with challenges professionally
  • Be open minded to continually develop and receive feedback
  • Be a great communicator with children, coaches and partners
  • Preferable to have experience of working abroad

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Exceptional organisation skills, including the proven ability to manage a fast-paced and varied workload
  • Ability to communicate with a broad range of customers, adapting style and approach as and when required
  • Proven ability to respond to unforeseen challenges/issues effectively, with a calm and considerate approach
  • An awareness and ability to implement good practice guidance regarding safeguarding children in sports
  • A strong communicator both upward and downward to ensure smooth delivery of all coaching rights and associated activity

Hours of Work

As per the nature of casual work there are no guaranteed hours. Work will vary on a weekly/monthly basis and will include evening and weekend work.

Most of our coaching programmes are delivered in our peak period from June to August, although we do have ad-hoc programmes throughout the remainder of the year.

Casual Matchday Steward

The Club is currently seeking exceptional Stewards to work on matchdays/major events on a casual basis at Emirates Stadium. You will operate as an ambassador for the Club and provide a best in class service in order to enhance the fan and customer experience, whilst ensuring safety and security standards are maintained at all times.

Suitable candidates should be smart, friendly and confident when dealing with members of the public.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preventing unauthorised entry into the Stadium
  • Ticket checks following protocol
  • Ensuring safe entry and exit of fans
  • Manage, monitor and control crowds safely
  • Monitoring exit gates, lifts & staircases
  • Manage conflict and queue management
  • Offer fans and guests exceptional matchday experience

Successful applicants on a casual worker basis must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Skills and expertise - relevant customer service experience
  • Fan and customer focus - ability to communicate effectively with all guest types
  • Teamwork and drive results - working in a fast paced and busy environment, desire to achieve targets
  • Live the values - live and breathe 'The Arsenal Way', have an understanding of football, and be able to demonstrate Club knowledge and history is desirable
  • The availability and flexibility to work evenings, weekdays and weekends.
  • Be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
